Respected as a violinist, pianist, and philanthropist during her lifetime, Johanna Senfter is now also becoming known as a prolific composer: over a hundred compositions have been uncovered since her death.
The 2018 Feminae Records release Senfter: Compositions for Two Violins includes both of Johanna Senfter’s works for two violins: her previously-unrecorded Concerto in C Minor for Two Violins and String Orchestra, opus 40 and her Ten Old Dances for Two Violins, opus 91.
Also available from Feminae Records, Senfter’s beautiful and haunting Elegie for Violin and Piano is included in the 2007 Feminae in Musica release.
