For this tenth release, Feminae Records founder Aleksandra Maslovaric encourages Classical music lovers to continue to “look for the woman.” That’s a relatively easy task with the Cherchez la Femme album because Maslovaric takes on the roles of both composer and featured performer leading the Budapest Symphony Orchestra in the premiere recording of her Violin Concerto #2 in D Major before standing alone to perform her Four Caprices for Solo Violin.
A 21st century neo-romantic composition, Maslovaric’s new concerto encourages the audience to find their own inner poetry and traverse a personal story over its five movements. Is the journey only in my imagination? Didn’t we share moments? It seems like we can get away. A declaration for the record. With freedom won, we will find our sunsets.
In addition to the new concerto, this album also includes a solo tour de force with Maslovaric performing her Four Caprices for Solo Violin.
These new works are fresh and contemporary while still firmly grounded in the cinematic, neo-romantic style. A wonderful addition to the repertory.
